KABUL: The US has held the first official dialogue with the Taliban here on Saturday since September when President Trump had termed the peace deal as dead with the group.

According to the US statement, the dialogue will primarily focus on seeking a promise from the Taliban to decrease violence in the country.

During the ongoing talks, US peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has been trying to establish a paltform for dialogue between Afghans on both sides of conflict.
