Dr Zakir Naik apologises for PIA remarks

KUALA LUMPUR: A day after being investigated by police, renowned Indian Islamic preacher Zakir Naik apologised on Tuesday for issuing racially sensitive comments.

On Monday, Malaysian police probed Naik for 10 hours over his speech made earlier this month.

In his comments, he said that Hindus living in Malaysia had 100 times more rights than the Muslim minority in India. Malaysian Chinese were guests of the country, he added.

Zakir Naik tendered apology for his controversial remarks, insisting he was not a racist.

Detractors took my comments out of context, he cleared.
