Younus agrees to play Pakistan Cup after Shahryar’s assurance

ISLAMABAD: Former Test Cricketer Younus Khan has agreed to participate in the remaining of the ongoing Pakistan Cup in Faisalabad after his conversation with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan.

According to a private news channel, Younis had made a telephonic contact with the PCB Chairman and apologized for the incident that happened during the Pakistan Cup.  He appraised the Chairman about his willingness to participate in the remainder of the tournament.

He said, being an advisor of Chairman PCB on cricketing affairs, it was an obligatory on his part to participate in the premier ODI Domestic tournament for the larger interest of the promotion of the game in the country.

Younus, who has been leading Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), team in the Pakistan Cup raised finger on umpires’ decision for not declaring Misbah-ul-haq out and was extremely, displeased over two no-balls not given by the umpires. The unhappy Younus not only blamed the umpires but also resigned from captaincy and went back to Karachi.

He broke the disciplinary rules by third degree while the latter could have been banned for five matches by the PCB regulation committee.

But the PCB Chairman intervened in the matter and discarded all the disciplinary actions initiated by the committee against Younus.
