KARACHI: Legendary artist, writer, and intellectual personality Anwar Maqsood overwhelmingly praised Alkhidmat for its services to the society.

Addressing a conference at a local hotel, the legendary figure said that Alkhidmat was carrying out the activities which should be done by the state.

On the occasion, he shed light in detail on the services of Alkhidmat and former mayor Karachi late Naimatullah Khan who was heading Alkhidmat during his tenure in Karachi. Anwar Maqsood dubbed Naimatullah as a blessing for Karachi.

He also praised Alkhidmat for the scope of its services and particularly for serving and educating even prisoners.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the JI has been serving masses since its inception as a continuous feature of its function under directions of Maulana Syed Abulalla Maudodi, the founder of the JI. He added that Alkhidmat was serving the masses in almost fields of life.

Talking about the situation on grounds, he said that the Sindh government allocated Rs77 billion for the education sector and Rs173 billion for the public health sector but the masses in the province were unable to access education and health facilities and even potable water was not available to the masses and people have no other option but to purchase water.

The JI leader maintained that the state is bound to fulfill basic needs of the masses and there is no alternative for state. In the prevailing situation, the biggest service to the society is to keep a check on the expenditure of the taxpayers’ money.

He urged the people of Karachi to support Alkhidmat and the JI for a justice based system in the megalopolis. He highlighted that mayors like Naimatullah and Abdul Sattar Afghani should be mandated to serve the city and spend tax payers money for them.

Alkhidmat Chief Executive Naveed Ali Baig gave a presentation on the contribution of Alkhidmat to the welfare of society. He highlighted that the services of Alkhidmat are recognized on the national and international levels.

He also highlighted that the state has already decorated Abdul Shakoor, the president of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, with Nishan-e-Pakistan.

He added that Alkhidmat facilitates more than 15 million individuals.

On the occasion, prominent figures from all walks of life participated in the conference to express their support to Alkhidmat.
