CHANDIGARH: New Zealand on Tuesday beaten Pakistan by 22 runs in the World T20 at Bindra Stadium, Mohali and qualified for the semifinal.
New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat. The Black Caps set Pakistan 181 runs target on five wickets but Pakistan failed to achieve the target. Pakistan scored 158 runs on five wickets in the given overs.
New Zealand’s opener Guptill was awarded with man of the match. He made 80 runs on 48 balls.
Pakistani pacer Mohammad Sami and skipper Shahid Afridi took two wickets each. Opener Sharjeel Khan was the top scorer with 47 runs on 25 balls.
New Zealand’s bowlers Santner and Milne grabbed two wickets each.
It is pertinent to mention here that no Pakistani player could hit the boundary after the 15th over in the match. Pakistan hit only two sixes in the inning.
