ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan gave important remarks while hearing a case regarding women’s inheritance on Thursday.
The apex court dismissed a petition seeking share in the property of the petitioner’s maternal grandfather.
The court observed that a woman should claim share in her lifetime from parents property. If she does not claim property share during her lifetime then her children are not eligible to make the claim later.
Essa Khan, a resident of Peshawar, had transferred his property to his son Abdur Rehman in 1935. He did not gave share to his two daughters and the inheritance was not challenged.
The children of the two daughters had filed a petition seeking share in the property of their maternal grandfather in 2004.
