Sindh Police has changed plan to impose hefty fines over women travelling on motorcycles without wearing helmets after declaring it mandatory for all bike riders.

Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Ghulam Haider Jamali on Tuesday announced that women would be exempted in recently imposed helmet restrictions for bike riders during pillion riding under new traffic regulations.

The decision was made citing repeated appeals by the citizens against the restrictions. Earlier, Sindh traffic police released notification for restricting citizens including women to wear helmets while driving motorcyles or even during pillion riding.
