KARACHI: Heatwave continues for a second day in Karachi as temperature soars above 39 C in the morning and mercury is likely to hit 43 C on Sunday.

Taking precautionary measures to protect yourself from sun is strictly recommended at least for a couple of more days as dear sun looks angry.

Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted that intense heatwave will persist in Karachi and parts of Sindh on Sunday and Monday and is likely to subside sometime on Tuesday.

Viewing thousands of casualties because of sizzling hot weather in June this year, experts have advise for Karachiites that consume more water and remain as much indoors as possible.

Joint Executive Director Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) Dr Seemi Jamali angled the weather from a different view while talking to Jasarat Website in the morning: ‘this is not the same heatwave as it was in Ramadan. Conditions are different, though temperature could almost be the same sometimes during the day. Humidity is far less, winds are blowing, duration of power breakdown/  loadshedding  is bearable and most importantly people have got awareness how to tackle the situation.’

She said JPMC did not receive any serious patient. Only a 70-year-old man had arrived at the hospital on Saturday and was discharged shortly after getting treatment. Jamali said JPMC was equipped with all the instruments and tools to facilitate heatwave patients.
