Wasim gun attack: Driver recorded statement before police

KARACHI: The arrested driver who opened fire at Pakistan’s legendary cricketer Wasim Akram has recorded his statement before the Police.

According to reports, the arrested driver said that his owner have asked him to drive fast which cause loss of control and hit Wasim’s car.

The driver said he didn’t know that Wasim Akram was driving.  “When Akram tried to stop the car we came in panic,” he said.

“When I saw Wasim came out of the car I fire of a shot but didn’t try to shoot former Pakistani skipper,” he added.

It is pertinent to mention here, Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler escaped life attack as unidentified armed man open fire over his vehicle in Karachi.

Wasim Akram faced life threatening attack near Karsaz Road when former skipper was moving towards National Assembly of Karachi here on Wednesday.

However, he remained unhurt in the incident.

The legendary bowler said he was going to attended a bowling camp at National Stadium when his vehicle was hit by another car while the outrageous person suddenly opened fire.

He said that security guards were also present in other vehicle who fired gun shots and easily fled from the location. He added that the persons wanted to open fire directly over him but they fired bullets on the another location to spread fear after identifying him.

Law enforcement agencies have rapidly taken action over the incident and commenced search operation to find out the suspected vehicle and responsible persons.

According to security sources, the vehicle with number plate AEG-061 was registered under ownership of Uziar who is a resident of Defence Phase VIII. Police said that Uzair is currently residing in foreign country and vehicle AEG-061 was parked in his garage since last few months
