LAHORE:  Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has said that the by-elections in NA-122 Lahore and NA-144 Okara were an eye opener as the voters, in a free exercise of opinion, had expressed their distrust in government and the political parties.

Addressing a corner meetings at Allama Iqbal Town, Muslim Town, Gulberg and Jauhar Town areas in connections with local bodies elections, Liaqat Baloch said that that the low turnout in the by-elections in spite of massive use of money, indicated that the voter could not be motivated simply through the show of wealth during election campaign and it was also essential to satisfy the people of the constituency.

He greeted Ayaz Sadiq and Shoaib Siddiqui on their electoral victory. He said that the victory of independent candidate Riazul Haq at Okara also indicated the emergence of a new horizon on the political front. He said that the JI had supported the PTI and the JI voters had proved fruitful in PP 147.

The JI central leader expressed hope that in the local bodies elections, the voters would support the panel having food reputation and service record.
