The governor Punjab has convened a meeting on April 2 to elect a new Leader of the House. A meeting of the Punjab Assembly has been convened on Saturday at 11 am.

It may be recalled that a few days ago, Prime Minister Imran Khan had nominated Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervaiz Elahi instead of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar as Chief Minister in return for which PML-Q had announced its support to the government in the no-confidence motion.

Last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan had nominated PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi as Chief Minister of Punjab in return for his support to the no-confidence motion against him.

An announcement has been made about the meeting between PM Imran Khan and the PML-Q delegation. According to the statement, in the meeting, the prime minister told Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi that he has accepted the resignation of Usman Buzdar. I nominate you as the Chief Minister of Punjab on behalf of my party.

According to the statement, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for nominating him as the Chief Minister of Punjab and said that he would come upto his expectations.

It added that in a meeting with the prime minister, Pervaiz Elahi said that the PML-Q would fully cooperate with him as an ally and would serve the people together as an ally.

On the other hand, Chaudhry Shujaat is angry over Pervaiz Elahi’s decision to accept the post of Chief Minister and support the government. Shujaat has demanded the resignation of his National Assembly member Tariq Bashir Cheema.

PML-Q leader Tariq Bashir said he was with the people currently under the burden of inflation and not with Imran Khan.
