Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the US decision to declare Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The MMU in a joint statement issued in Srinagar termed Donald Trump’s decision as purely anti-Muslim and anti-Palestine stating that the move amounts to stabbing the heart of every Muslim, KMS reported.
It said that Trump’s dictatorial decision has created deep anger and resentment against the US. “Muslims across the globe hold Jerusalem (Baitul Muqadas) in high esteem due to its affiliation with the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) journey to the skies and all Muslims used to bow their heads before the Masjid-e-Aqsa also known as (Qibla-e-Awal),” it added.
The MMU said that Trump’s decision of declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will further trigger and deepen the rift between Israel and Palestine. It also termed the decision of Trump as the direct violation of UN Charter.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a statement in Srinagar denouncing the US decision said, “The Zionists illegally and immorally occupied the land of Palestine in 1948 with the connivance of the so-called world powers. All the anti-Islamic forces played an open role in the creation of this illegal territory of Israel by forcibly evicting the native people of Palestine mostly Muslims and on resistance thousands of innocent Muslims were massacred.”
Hurriyat leaders, Zafar Akbar Butt, Javaid Ahmad Mir and Syed Saleem Gilani in their statements denounced US decision of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
