WASHINGTON: United States military scientists have introduced a small drone that fits in the palm. The drone was named after the insect that inspired its invention, the Cicada.
Naval Research Laboratory scientist Aaron Khan said, “The idea was why can’t we make UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) that have the same sort of profile”. He said that they would put so many out there so it would be impossible for the enemy to pick them all up.
Aaron said that its coast is just a thousand dollars and could come down to as little as 250 dollars. He said that it was designed to glide to programmed GPS coordinates after being dropped from an aircraft, a balloon or a larger drone.
