LAHORE: Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Liaqat Baloch called on the Iranian Consul General Muhammad Husain Asadi and discussed with him the overall situation in the region and the problems faced by the Muslim Ummah.

During the meeting held here on Monday, Liaqat Baloch told Iranian Consul General that the entire region was facing numerous crises and added that an earnest desire for the Ummah’s unity alone could help the Muslim world overcome the present chaos and the challenge of extremism. He believed that strong ties between Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey and Pakistan could foil the nefarious designs of the anti-Islam forces.

Liaqat Baloch noted that India was enhancing anti-Pakistan feelings and creating an atmosphere of war. New Delhi wanted to escalate tensions to hide oppression in Kashmir besides her cruel role in Bangladesh and Balochistan. He said if the world at large did not take notice of India’s negative attitude, it would have to face a horrible consequences.

Meanwhile, the JI SG also presided over a meeting of the Steering Committees of the Defai e Pakistan Council, in the city. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the nation expected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to fully expose India’s brutalities in Held Kashmir and her designs to sabotage the Kashmiris’ peaceful struggle for their right of self-determination through fake terrorist attacks.

He said that instead of having false expectations from New Delhi, the government should evolve a permanent policy on Kashmir and not depend on a speech at the UN General Assembly alone. —INP
