ISLAMABAD: United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on Monday that the international community’s support for Pakistan to handle refugees had been minimal as compared to the country’s national efforts for the Afghan refugees.

He was speaking at the conference “40 years of Afghan Refugees Presence in Pakistan: A New Partnership for Solidarity in Islamabad” being organised by the Pakistan government in collaboration with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

The UN chief urged the world to recognise that the international support has been minimal for Pakistan.

He said that we had come together  with the view to recognise wonderful story of compassion and solidarity.
