NEW YORK: The United Nations Secretary-General has called on the United States to lift sanctions on Iran.
According to a foreign news agency, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called on the United States to lift sanctions on Iran after halting work on its nuclear program.
He said the 15-member UN Council would consider implementing the 2015 agreement next week.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said that Iran has abandoned its nuclear weapons program under the agreement and that the Biden administration should now lift economic sanctions on Iran.
