Islamabad: Asad Umar, the minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives on Sunday said that the decision on easing the lockdown restrictions would be taken after May 9, taking all provinces onboard.

After the May-9 meeting of the National Coordination Committee, we will decide the future strategy, the federal minister told media here.

He said that any decision regarding easing the lockdown restrictions would be taken in a way that it does not harm the healthcare system of the country. We will gradually relax the restrictions, providing livelihood to masses.

The federal minister said that currently we have 1400 ventilators while 900 more would be available in two months.

He said that 35 Covid-19 patients are on ventilators in the country.

Meanwhile, according to the health ministry data, over 150,000 people will contract the coronavirus by May 30 in the country.

The data suggests that the graph of confirmed cases would flatten in the month of June. In July, the graph will start declining, the data shows.

According to the data, the stock of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilators is sufficient for the month of May. However, in June there will be a shortage them.
