WASHINGTON: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is mediating between Pakistan and India to restore diplomatic ties.
This was revealed by UAE Envoy to the US Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba here during a virtual discussion with the Hoover Institution of Stanford University.
A London-based foreign wire service quoting sources said that intelligence officials from the two neighbouring countries had secret dialogue in Dubai earlier this year in January to reduce military tensions over occupied Kashmir.
Yousef Al Otaiba said that the UAE had played its role in reducing tensions over the Kashmir region and creating ceasefire. He hoped that the diplomatic ties between the two nuclear countries would restore and relationship would come back to health level.
The UAE envoy urged Pakistan to play its role in Afghanistan, where the US is set to withdraw its forces from May 1.
