ISLAMABAD: As many as two private member bills the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2016 and the Provincial Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill, 2016 were introduced in Senate on Monday.
The bills were moved by Senators Zaheerud Din Babar Awan and Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh in the House respectively.
Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani referred both the bills to the concerned standing committee for further deliberation.
Meanwhile, the House also adopted three resolutions including the government should take effective steps for poverty alleviation in the country, the domicile certificates of the persons belonging to Balochistan who are working in various Ministries/Division and Federal Government Departments may be sent to the concerned authorities in Balochistan for verification of the same and the government should make legislation to provide for preferential treatment to the women engaged in business and trade related activities in the country.
