CANBERRA: Australian government has decided to kill two million cats in upcoming 5 years to protect local mammals and birds species.
Australian Minister for the Environment Greg Hunt announced a five year project in Melbourne Zoo through which two million cats will be killed by 2020 to protect local birds’ species.
The minister said that cats were abundant in Australia and dangerous for 120 rare species of birds and local animals.
Through the five-year project two million cats will be killed in 5 islands and 10 different areas of the country. The cats will be killed by gunshots and poison.
