Two killed, low lying areas inundated in heavy rain

LAHORE: Two persons were killed and three others sustained injuries as intermittent heavy rain lashed here on Thursday.

The intermittent downpour in Lahore has turned weather pleasant but it has also created difficulties for the locals going to offices and schools.

A resident of Sabzazar lost her life due to electrocution whereas husband, wife and their daughter were wounded as a roof of a house collapsed in Manawan. Reports said that the girl died under the debris while the husband and wife were shifted to hospital for medical aid.

On the other hand, continuous rain in Lahore has tripped more than 136 feeders and inundated low-lying areas.

The electricity in different areas has got affected as the feeders tripped. The local authorities said that process is underway to restore power in the affected localities.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) also warned that heavy downpour may trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

The authorities have also predicted that more rains would continue to lash parts of Punjab for two more days.
