GHOTKI: Two bogies of a moving freight train detached from engine in Daharki, officials said.

According to railway officials, two bogies of a moving freight train detached from the train near Daad Leghari Gate in Daharki. The freight train was on its way from Lahore to Karachi when the incident happened.

The railway guard said that it was not known how the bogies of the train were separated.

Last month, a fatal accident between Millat Express and Sir Syed Express left at least 40 passengers dead and over 60 injured near Daharki.

Sources said that Malakwal bound Millat Express derailed and the Sir Syed Express coming from Lahore collided with the derailed bogies, leaving at least 40 killed and 64 injured. Five coaches of Karachi bound Sir Syed Express were also derailed after colliding with Millat Express.

SSP Ghotki said that 30 to 35 passengers were still trapped in a bogie.

Injured are being shifted nearby hospitals. Pak Army engineers and doctors have reached the site of accident, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

Pakistan Railways has setup information desks to provide details of the dead and the injured to their hears in Karachi, Sukkur, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.
