Turkish President Erdogan arrives in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Pakistan on a short visit today while returning from Indonesia.

President Erdogan and the Turkish First Lady were warmly welcomed by Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and First Lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz at the airport.

On the occasion, Advisor on National Security Sartaj Aziz, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary were also present at the airport.

Pakistan-Turkey-Leaders

Both political heads of ally countries held discussions over enhancement of bilateral relations of Pakistan and Turkey besides exchanging views on international issues of mutual interest and regional situation.

Turkish President praised role of Pakistan in establishment of regional peace. He would be given dinner in PM House over his arrival in Pakistan.

Earlier, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan had visited Lahore and Islamabad in December 2013 as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey.

It was his seventh visit to Pakistan in the last ten years, signifying substantial growth and strengthening of relations under his government. This would be his first visit to Islamabad as the President of Turkey.

Pakistan deeply appreciates the personal contribution to the growth and expansion of Pakistan-Turkey relations under the sagacious leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Pakistan’s relations with Turkey have seen tremendous improvement and dynamism in the last few years. Since the assumption of office by Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s Government, bilateral relations have acquired a new direction and dynamism.

Most importantly, there is eagerness on both sides to translate our historic and cordial relations into a durable strategic and economic partnership.
