ANKARA: Turkey has withdrawn its ambassador to Bangladesh after the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami.
President Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that the government has directed its ambassador to Bangladesh to report homeland.
Bangladesh executed Motiur Rahman Nizami on Wednesday and the death penalty was given by a controversial war crimes tribunal.
International human rights groups say the procedures of the Bangladeshi tribunal that sentenced Nizami fell short of international standards.
