ANKARA: Turkey on Thursday summoned the United Arab Emirates charge d´affaires in Ankara to lodge a protest over the Emirates´ foreign minister tweet about an Ottoman commander last week.

Last week, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahayan retweeted accusations that Ottoman forces led by Fakhreddin Pasha had stolen money and manuscripts from Medina in 1916 duirng the first World War and shipped to Istanbul.

The retweet added that the Turkish forces had also abducted residents of Medina and took them to Istanbul.
