KABUL: At least 40 Daesh insurgents including one of the group’s senior leaders, Ghaznawi Orukzai, were killed and injured in U.S drone strikes in eastern Nangarhar province, Afghan media said on Tuesday.
The strike took place in Achin district of the province on Monday night after a U.S drone targeted insurgents in two different parts of the district.
The source said that Ghaznawi was also a member of the Hafiz Sayeed group, and also one of the founders of Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
However, officials have not yet commented on the operation.
