LAHORE: An election tribunal has announce its verdict on Wednesday dismissed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition of rigging and declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Riaz Malik’s lead legal in NA-118 118 constituency of Lahore.

PTI‘s Hamid Zaman, a runner-up candidate, had filed the petition alleging the PML-N candidate committed rigging in the 2013 general elections.

The tribunal had ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to verify ballots with thumb impressions of the voters.

On June 11 this year, the Nadra authorities submitted a pre-scan report about record of NA-118, revealing that electoral rolls of 60 polling stations of the constituency were missing from the record.

Besides pointing out many irregularities in the record, the report also mentioned absence of complete record of five polling stations.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, the tribunal comprising Judge Muhammad Rashid Qamar on Tuesday reserved its decision in the case.

On this occasion PML-N candidate said that the tribunal has given the decision in his favour dismissing PTI’s petition.

On the other hand, PTI‘s Hamid Zaman said that they had concerns when Judge of the tribunal changes.

He said that the party will decide what to do after receiving complete verdict.
