Lahore: The Pakistan Railways will resume its operation from May 10, a notification issued on Tuesday said.
Earlier, the country wide operation was suspended in late March to limit the spread of coronavirus.
The notification says that, in the first phase,15 trains including Khyber Mail, Tezgam, Islamabad Express and Awam Express will resume operation, maintaining social distancing.
Fifty per cent of reservation for these trains will be available online.
Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that to lessen the economic affects of restrictions on the masses the lockdown would have to be removed gradually in the country.
He stated this in a televised address to the nation.
The prime minister said that lockdown has to be removed so that citizens could earn livelihood.
However, he said that we have to follow safety measures otherwise our efforts would go waste.
About the Corona Relief Tiger Force, the prime minister said that it would help the people affected by lockdown.
He added that administration alone could not do much.
