Train driver, over speeding responsible for Gujranwala accident: Saad Rafique

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Monday said that the Gujranwala train accident happened due to over-speeding.

The Railway Minister said that the engine had derailed before Chanawan Bridge.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, He said that the train driver was responsible for the accident. He continued that the train had to take stop before 26 kilometer from the bridge at any cost but the train did not stop there.

Saad Rafique said that JIT investigating for over-speeding. He said that Chanawan bridge was quite fit and an Express train passed the bridge few hours ago. He said that evidences found that the engine derailed 947 feet before the bridge.
