Traders across Pakistan protest against withholding tax

ISLAMABAD: Traders on Tuesday have called strikes in different cities against the 0.6 percent increase in withholding tax on bank transactions.
According to details, traders in Peshawar, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala, Lahore and several other cities have joined hands against the withholding tax.

The protesters have warned they would withdraw all their savings from banks in case the federal government does not retract from its decision.

In Peshawar all the main markets were shut in protest.

In Lahore, all the big markets are closed today following the call to strike. Markets in Faisalabad are also observing shutter down call.

Traders in Sargodha have called for strike on July 8 against the government’s decision.

The Traders Union in Karachi have called for a demonstration of protest outside the press club at 3 pm today.
