TOKYO: Tokyo’s benchmark index ended Monday morning trade unchanged, clawing back early losses driven by news that the Japanese economy stalled in the second quarter.

The Nikkei 225 was flat, edging up 0.79 points, to 16,920.71 by the lunch break, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.17 percent, or 2.30 points, at 1,320.92.
