Tokyo stocks open lower after Wall St drop

TOKYO: Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday, tracking losses on Wall Street as investors focused on Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan meetings next week for trading cues.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 0.19 percent, or 30.90 points, to 16,637.51 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was down 0.12 percent, or 1.60 points, at 1,335.81.
