Tokyo stocks end morning down as yen recovers

TOKYO: Tokyo stocks fell Wednesday morning, with the benchmark index slipping off a one-month high as exporters sagged on a pick-up in the yen while a dip in oil prices hit energy firms.

The Nikkei 225 index fell 0.58 percent, or 98.44 points, to 16,926.32 by the lunch break, while the broader Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.45 percent, or 6.13 points, at 1,350.22.
