TOKYO: Tokyo stocks opened lower in thin trading Tuesday as profit-taking set in after four straight sessions of gains, with investors focused on a possible consumption tax hike delay.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.23 percent, or 38.56 points, to 17,029.46 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.25 percent, or 3.38 points, to 1,362.63.
