In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have slapped draconian law, Public Safety Act on three youth from Islamabad district after they were arrested by the Indian police.
The youth identified as Shabbir Ahmed Rather, Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh and Aijaz Ahmed Malik were shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.
Meanwhile, the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum in a statement expressed anger over the arrest and slapping of the draconian law on the innocent youth. It said that such repressive measures were being used as tools to force the people of Jammu and Kashmir into submission.
The forum denounced the ongoing cordon and search operation in Hajin, Bandipora, amid deployment of thousands of troops stating that people were kept hostages in their own homes for hours together while youth were questioned and harassed during the search operation.
“When people of Hajin protested against the unjustified forces’ action, the troops resorted to indiscriminate pellet and teargas shelling leaving dozens injured. These coercive and oppressive measures can’t break the resolve of freedom loving people of Kashmir,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, a Hurriyat delegation led by Mukhtar Ahmed Waza visited Bone and Joints Hospital Barzulla in Srinagar and inquired about the health of those injured in the forces’ action in Pulwama. Another delegation comprising Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Ghulam Nabi Najar, and Ghulam Muhammad Pandit visited the residence of martyr Sajad Ahmed Shah at Chogul in Handwara and expressed solidarity with his family.
The Mirwaiz spoke to the martyr’s father over phone and said that the sacrifices of the youth were great assets of the ongoing freedom movement
