Police van blast kills two in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: As many as two police personnel were dead while four other injured when a suicide bomber explode himself near Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) Commander Malik Tariq’s van in Peshawar, local media reported on Thursday.

According to reports, Commander FRP Malik Tariq was on his way to office when a suicide bomber attacked his car in phase 5 of Hayatabad.

Rescue team rushed the site and shifted the injured and the commander to Hayatabad medical complex where it has been reported that Tariq sustained serious injuries while one personnel succumbed to injuries.

Police cordoned off the area and started investigation of the blast.

It is pertinent to mention here that at least three DSPs have been killed in last two months in Karachi with the latest being DSP Majeed Abbas who was killed on Tuesday (yesterday) when armed assailants opened fire on a police van in Shah Latif Town area of the city.
