Three days anti polio campaign begins in KP, 5.612m target set for vaccination: EPI

PESHAWAR: A three days anti polio campaign on Monday began in all districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa where 5.612million children under five years of age would be vaccinated.

Officials in Expanded Programme for Immunization (EPI) told APP that the campaign has been started across Khyber Pakthunkhwa where a target of 56,12,850 children was set for vaccination.

To achieve the set target, 19320 teams including 16750 mobile, 875 transit and 4383 areas incharges besides lady health workers were tasked to vaccinate the children.

The official requested parents and guardians to bring their children to nearest hospitals and basic health units in case anti polio teams did not arrive at their homes. He said polio was a crippling disease that could only be eradicated through vaccination.
