Three-day mourning to be observed across Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday announced three-day mourning throughout the province over the tragic incident of blast at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park while national flag will fly half mast.

The Chief Minister, in his message, strongly condemned the blast, sought a report from the Inspector General of Police and directed immediate arrest of the responsible of the incident.

He expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in the blast and sympathized with the bereaved families.

He directed the administration to provide best treatment facilities to the injured. Senior officials of health department should personally supervise medical facilities being provided to the injured, he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said the brutal ‘beasts’ targeting innocent children, women and people in the park deserved no leniency and such a cowardly act was highly condemnable.

He said all his sympathies and that of the Punjab government was with the bereaved families and equally shared their grief.

He said that the perpetrators of this incident would not escape law and those playing with the lives of innocent citizens would be brought to justice.
