In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people, today, attended the funeral prayers of 20-year-old youth at Trehgam in Kupwara district.
The youth, Khalid Ghafar (20), son of Abdul Ghafar Malik was killed while another person suffered injuries after army opened fire on a group of protesters at Trehgam village on Wednesday evening.
Media reports said thousands of people assembled at Trehgam and participated in the funeral prayers of Khalid. Later, the youth was laid to rest amid pro-freedom and ant-India sloganeering in local martyr’s graveyard.
Soon after the youth was buried, the people mostly youth took to streets and held peaceful protest demonstrations. The forces used teargas shells and pellets on the protesters resulting in injuries to several youths in the ongoing protests.
The locals said that the forces damaged windowpanes of several residential houses in Tregam. The protests were going on in Trehgam and adjoining areas till filing of this report.
