Terrorists wanted to shift Awais to Afghanistan: DG ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Inter Services Public Relations Director General Lt. General Asim Bajwa said that terrorists wanted to transport Awais Shah to Afghanistan through western border.

Asim Bajwa said Army recovered Awais Shah in an intelligence based operation near Tank and said Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) played vital role in the operation.

He said in a press conference that army set up three check posts near Mufti Mehmood Chowk on a tipoff. Bajwa said that they had been following the technical evidences about Awais Shah for last three days. He said the terrorists shifting Awais Shah in a blue Surf car last night about 2:30 am when army troops intercepted them and recovered the hostage. Kidnappers tried to flee but army personnel foiled their bid and gunned down all the three terrorists in the operation.

Bajwa said that combing and intelligence based operational will be continued across the country to eliminate terrorists. He said the terrorists belonged to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) splinter group.
