Terrorists fleeing across border to escape military operation: DG ISPR

WASHINGTON: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR), Lieutenant-General Asim Saleem Bajwa, said that they have already warned before commencement of Operation Zarb-e-Azb regarding terrorists could flee across the border to escape the military operation.

Lt. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa reiterated that Pakistan will continue supporting peace efforts in Afghanistan with utmost sincerity.

While talking to journalists in in Washington on Sunday, he said terrorists were crossing the border to save themselves from Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He urged need to establish strict surveillance system by Afghanistan government and NATO forces to stop the fleeing terrorists.

The key military official said that Pakistan is witnessing major positive results after successful Operation Zarb-e-Azb which bettered security and peace situation. He added that the military operation gave advantages of both sides of the Afghanistan-Pakistan borders. However, Bajwa complained that Afghanistan government has not yet made any move to support the military operations despite provision of support to establish peace in Afghanistan.

The military official said that Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif is visiting the United States which has great importance. He will hold meetings with US civil and military leadership during the visit. A meeting is also scheduled with US state minister John Kerry where important matters of regional security and peace stability will be discussed.
