BAGH, AJK: Police in a timely action foiled a major terror bid in Bagh district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir while two Afghan truck drivers were arrested for smuggling explosives into Pakistan on Saturday.
According SP Bagh, Mamran Ali, five Afghan terrorists were residing in a rented house in Nomanpura area of the city. After a little resistance the police was able to arrest the terrorists who were Afghan nationals.
The SP said 80 kilograms of explosives was recovered from the house. He said with such a massive explosive material, the terrorists were planning a terror bid.
Kamran Ali said that the terrorists have been shifted to an unknown location and their interrogation was in progress. He hoped that the police would be able to succeed in unearthing their cohorts.
Azad Kashmir has been relatively a calm area as far as terrorist activities are concerned. However with operation Raad ul Fasad in progress, in which search operation are continuing across the country, the terrorists have apparently moved to Azad Kashmir.
In another major achievement in ongoing anti-terror raids across the country, the security forces on Saturday arrested two truck drivers for allegedly smuggling explosives into Pakistan under the garb of Afghan transit trade.
The law enforcement personnel took action on a tip-off from intelligence agencies and rounded up two truck drivers identified as Sakhi Badshah and Rasool Nawaz during raid in Sona Chowk area of Sadiqabad According to sources, both suspects belonging to Wana town of South Waziristan Agency have close links with the terrorist groups.
Security sources have termed Sakhi Badshah and Rasool Nawaz’s arrest a major achievement in war against terrorism. Both have been moved to undisclosed location for interrogation.
