Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has rejected the Indian Prime Minister, Narinder Modi’s statement that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, terming it a cruel joke and unrealistic.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and it can’t be changed by these false and arrogant assertions. He said that Kashmir had never been a part of India whereas the fact of the matter was that it was illegally occupied by Indian through military power on 27th October, 1947. He advised the Indian rulers to shun their stubbornness, accept the ground realities and come forward to address the lingering dispute according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The APHC Chairman also appealed to the people of South Kashmir to completely boycott the fourth phase of the so-called Indian Parliamentary elections to be held on Monday.
Senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement in Srinagar said that New Delhi was using its National Investigation Agency and Enforcement Directorate as a tool to suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom movement and force the Hurriyat leadership into submission. He condemned the continued illegal detention of JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, the ED notice to the daughter of incarcerated senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, and NIA summons to another jailed Hurriyat leader, Altaf Ahmed Shah’s son.
The occupation authorities booked two persons including a cleric under draconian law, Public Safety Act, in Pulwama district and lodged them at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.
Meanwhile, Indian troops launched cordon and search operations in Shopian and Pulwama districts, today. The troops cordoned off Heff Shirmal village of Shopian and Aripal area of Tral town in Pulwama and conducted door-to-door searches, causing immense inconvenience to the local people.
The President of Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Mir, in a statement in Srinagar said that economy of the occupied territory was on the decline due to frequent closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway and regulations on the movement of transport by the authorities.
On the other hand, a woman and a minor girl were killed while nine other persons were injured when a vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a nullah on Bandipora-Gurez road in Bandipora district, today.
