KUWAIT: As many as 13 people were dead while several were wounded when a suicide bomber attacked a Shia mosque in Kuwaiti capital during weekly prayers on Friday.
A witness told AFP “dozens were killed and wounded,” and pictures circulating on social media showed several bloodied bodies in the mosque amid debris.
Emergency services were attending the scene, which was surrounded by clouds of black smoke and crowds of people milling around.
Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah visited the Imam Sadiq mosque, located just a few buidling away from the country’s interior ministry.
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has claimed the responsibility of the attack, according to AFP.
