Faisalabad: The local district administration increased the price of sugar by Rs8 to Rs88 per kg.
In Quetta too, the price of one kg of sugar has gone up from Rs90 to Rs95. In Lahore and Karachi, sugar is being sold at Rs90-95 per kg.
Last month, the prime minister commended his economic team for selling sugar at Rs81 per kg.
The letter from the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association said that the crushing was started 15-20 days before the government orders on November 30. Recovery from sugarcane was very low and the country lost about 300,000 tonnes of sugar, it added.
