Imran Khan calls upon nation to protect freedom, democracy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the struggle for the rule of law is difficult but will win because the country cannot develop unless the powerful are brought under the rule of law.

Addressing the Rehmat-ul-Ulameen Scholarship Program, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that no nation can go up without education and the federal government is cooperating in the scholarship programme as it will spend Rs5.5 billion annually on 70,000 scholarships.

The Prime Minister said that lack of rule of law means that power prevails over law, lack of rule of law means only poor people go to jails. He added that no nation can become great unless the powerful are brought under the rule of law. The weak man can’t get a flat in London no matter how much he steals, but the strong and big robbers steal in billions, the strong and big robbers have to go abroad because the money is visible in the country, he added.
