LAHORE: Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said that the government is taking steps to introduce a transparent recruitment policy for induction of postgraduate residents (PGRs).
Presiding over a meeting to finalise Punjab Residency Programme for online induction of PGRs, held at Civil Secretariat on Saturday, he said that the government was trying to allocate maximum paid seats for the programme. He said that the honourary PGship should be minimised. He said that provision of quality treatment facilities to the people is the priority of the government.
Secretary Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah said that the purpose of introducing Punjab Residency policy for PGRs induction is to overcome shortage of specialist doctors in different specialties and to solve the problems, faced by the patients in public sector hospitals.
The meeting discussed in details regarding the allocation of paid and non-paid seats in different specialties/ sub-specialties according to the requirements.
The participants gave proposals to attract doctors for Postgraduation in such specialties which are facing dearth of doctors.
King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Faisal Masood, Fatima Jinnah Medical University VC Prof Fakhar Imam, Pro-Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Prof Junaid Sarfraz Khan, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof Mehmood Shaukat and other officials attended the meeting.
