KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday issued notice to the provincial government and Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police to submit their replies in SSP Rao Anwar suspension case.
During the hearing of a petition filed by SSP Rao against his suspension in SHC, Anwar’s lawyer argued that his client acted as per law. The lawyer termed his suspension ‘unlawful’ and requested the court to issue directives regarding his reinstatement on the post. The case hearing was adjourned till September 27.
Rao Anwar was suspended on the orders of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on September 16 after he arrested Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmaker Khawaja Izharul Hassan.
Anwar claimed that the courts have issued warrants against MQM MPA several times in the past.
Meanwhile, Javed Akbar Riaz was appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Karachi’s Malir district after suspension of Rao Anwar. A notification regarding newly SSP appointment was issued on Monday. —INP
