COLOMBO: Sri Lankan police have arrested a Muslim leader and member of parliament over his alleged involvement in the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks here on Saturday.
A police spokesperson said that Muslim MP and leader of All Ceylon Makkal Party Rishad Bathiudeen had been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
He added that a brother of the Muslim MP, Riyaaj, was also taken into custody during pre-dawn raids at their homes.
The police said that the Muslim MP and his brother had been arrested on scientific evidence of their connections with the bombers who carried out the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
