PESHAWAR: Squash wizard and legendary Jansher Khan Wednesday called on Corps Commander Peshawar, Lt General Hidayat-ur-Rehman here at Corps Headquarter and informed him about steps being taken for the development of squash in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Jansher Khan remained there for some time and discuss in detail about the establishment of Junior Squash Academy in Peshawar besides opening up squash academy activities in Army Squash Complex situated in the premises of Old Services ground.
Hidayat-ur-Rehman while lauded the efforts being put-in for the development of squash in the country, also assured Jansher Khan all out support for the promotion of squash.
Jansher disclosed that for improving the international ranking of the Pakistani players special initiatives have been taken by Pakistan Squash Federation Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff Pakistan Air Force for bringing international squash in the country.
He said it is a bold initiative in the restoration and survival of International squash in Pakistan, Jansher informed.He also informed Lt General Hidayat-ur-Rehman about the continuous support and guidance of the PSF chief in order to bring derailed squash back on the right path of development.
He said now Pakistan is going to host four tournaments of worth $ 25,000 each which is a good news for the country.Besides these, the Air Chief, he said, issued special instructions to conduct exhibition tournament in PAF Museum, Karachi for $ 40,000, so the top ten players across the world will participate in this tournament.
“We are very thankful to Lt General Hidayat-ur-Rehman from the depth of our heart for showing keen interest in the survival of the squash,” Jansher told APP.
